A depot hack was the early version of a hotel courtesy car that is now familiar to those who do any travel.  It was a way for hotels to attract patrons by meeting incoming passenger trains and offering free transport to and from the hotel.  The Ford Motor Company offered the Model T chassis without a body. Multiple companies purchased these chassis and built custom bodies on them.

The museum depot hack is built on a 1917 Model T Ford chassis much as a motorhome might be built on a Ford chassis today.  Currently it is off site awaiting rebuilding of the "hack" body.
