ROZA
The depot was founded in 1884 with the completion of the line from Yakima to Ellensburg and named Pato. In 1887 was changed to Roza after one of the official’s daughter. Roza was just a flag stop in the Yakima Canyon except a large deposit of silica was discovered and a town sprung up, the only official town in the canyon though never incorporated. Its heyday was between 1910-1920 with 120 people residing there.
